I must admit that when I studied I did not know him, although it was officially the first "designer" or rather modern "couturier".
Charles Frederick Worth is the hero of this historical column of the blog this month!
How many of you know him?!
Someone surely has never heard his name, even if it is a very important piece of history for the world of fashion!
and before I see a picture of him, I imagined him in this way: Chubby with a mustache and the funny face! Other about his life?!
It is considered the father of the haute couture, to have reversed the traditional relationship between client and tailor to the 800 century: before the lady called the tailor who went to the Palace to take steps and then do various tests of the dresses.
He began to invite all women in view of the French Society in his studio, set dates, according to the seasonality of fashion (appointments ancestors of modern fashion show!) None of this existed, it was he who invented it!
It was brilliant!?
He also invented the figure of models, the mannequenne personified first by his wife, Marie Vernet.
Curious to know more about this little man so important to the current fashion?! Read here! http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Frederick_Worth
What is certain is that his clothes were spectacular for the period!
What is your favorite?!? My favorite is the first dress;-)
